Learn+Act for Anti-Racism
George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA when a police officer leaned his knee on Floyd's neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. This egregious death shocked much of the world and spurred many to outrage and action. Although we live in a small town on the west coast of Scotland, far away from that Minneapolis intersection, we, too, felt the need to do something. We know that the racist structures we live in mean that people of colour are most affected, and we stand in solidarity with those who suffer knees on their necks.
We've created this site to provide resources to help ourselves and others learn about racism and how to be anti-racist. We're also eager to hear from folks in the Oban and surrounding areas who want find ways to learn and act here. You can also join the BLM Oban facebook group for more information on efforts taking place locally.
